From our family to yours for three generations,
My father Steve Guse and friend Bill Fredericks bought Big Canon in 1987 after retiring, my father retired from The Air Force and Bill retiring from The Navy. My brother and I worked here while we were in high school and college learning alongside our father on how the fishing lodge business runs. Of course, through the years we have to make modifications and adjustments due to technology and changing times, but it laid a great ground for us.
After college I decided to go into the fishing lodge business myself, purchasing my own camp. I bought my own lodge, North Star Lodge, in 1992 that our boating in guests will pass through at the start of their trip greeted by the friendly faces of my brother and his family. After the passing of my father and Bill retiring from the fishing lodge business in 2008 I returned to Big Canon with my wife. In 2022 my daughter Sarah came to help run the lodge after spending her childhood summers here. What started as a retirement hobby for my father and Bill has now turned into something more. This is not just my job and lively hood; this is about making people happy and making it the best fishing experience they’ve ever had. We strive to give our customers more than what they expect from “a camp in the bush.”
Please contact us if you have any more questions about our camp or services.
Sincerely,
Sam and Cynthia Guse and Staff
